Sunday 2nd June 2019

Classic Car Show at Lyneham Estate, near Yealmpton, Plymouth.
The event will be in its 2nd year, having been a "test" event last year, and having received considerable, mainly positive, feedback it will be even better this year. They had about 200 cars and about 1000 spectators last year, and it was well supported by MGOC and MGCC members. Torbay MGOC were there in force last year and seemed to enjoy themselves!

Watercress line - D Day landing 75th Anniversary organised by Janet Rose

As many of you know, John volunteered for many years at the Mid Hants Steam Railway, both as a fireman and driver. He also volunteered himself (and Janet) on the Jacobite in Scotland for a week each year.

The idea is to meet up at Ropley Station about 11.o.clock, this time will be confirmed, there is ample parking on a large field adjacent to the station. Station parking is very small and taken up by the staff for that day.
Also on this day only there will be a fly past by the iconic Spitfire, time to be announced on the day but usually about 3 o’clock

The cost is £20 pp which allows you to enjoy unlimited train travel and hop on and off at each of the period stations to experience music, dancing, vintage vehicles, food etc.
Some of us visited a few year ago and thoroughly enjoyed our day, Sue and I remember the camp coffee!. You will need to pre-book this event as only pre-booked tickets will be accepted on the day.

Go to https://www.watercressline.co.uk/product.php/128/war-on-the-line

You can contact Janet on 01453 883891 or janet@rosetowers.com

Sunday 23rd June 2019

Super Scramble Event at Bicester Heritage

Date:   Sunday 23rd June 2019
It has now become apparent that this year’s big summer Bicester Heritage event will not take on the form of the past Flywheels, and the Classic & Sports Car magazine will no longer be involved. It is now to be called the Super Scramble and will be a much-expanded version of their regular Scrambles which are held at the old WW2 bomber base (the last one attracted 7000 people!).
This new event still promises to be an interesting and unique event. Planned attractions are classic and historic car demonstrations on the test circuit, static displays, a hangar containing a Classic Trader Village and autojumble. The airfield will be open to allow a “fly in” for historic aircraft. There will also be a live music tent and a wide variety of food outlets.
The thirty plus businesses that specialise in all aspects of buying, selling, owning and restoring classic cars that operate out of the old RAF buildings will all be open for the public to wander around.
Almost 40 classic car clubs attended last year, and we hope to join them for what will be a very entertaining day out.
Please have a look at the website link to discover more of what is going on:
www.bicesterheritage.co.uk/whaton/superscramble/
More information about the event will be available in April.
The intention is to rendezvous at a point close to the A40 and then travel in convoy cross-country to Bicester so that we arrive at roughly 09:30 – 10:00. We will aim to leave around 16:00 – 17:00 and then plan to stop off for a meal on the return trip somewhere around Burford.
There are nine cars signed up and more would be very welcome.
If you are interested in coming, please let me know. There is no commitment at this stage.
